Buying guide

Choosing 1 carat lab grown diamonds.

A 1 carat round measures about 6.4 mm across. Elongated shapes such as ovals and pears look larger at the same weight because more of the stone faces up. Weights just under a round number, such as 0.90–0.99 ct, can look almost identical once set and often cost noticeably less, so filter a little below 1.00 ct if you are watching budget.

One carat is the size most people picture when they think of an engagement stone, and lab grown makes it easy to go for top color and clarity instead of compromising.

How to choose a 1 carat lab diamond

At one carat, small differences in cut show. Look for Ideal or Excellent cut and an IGI report, then choose color (D–F looks icy white) before chasing clarity: VS1 and up is eye-clean.

Some stones are priced on request. Ask about any of them and our graders in Surat reply personally.

Questions

Questions about 1 carat lab grown diamonds.

How big is a 1 carat lab grown diamond?

A 1 carat round brilliant measures about 6.4 to 6.5 mm across face-up. Carat is weight, so the exact size depends on the depth of the cut.

Do some shapes look bigger at 1 carat?

Yes. Ovals, pears and marquise cuts spread the weight over a longer outline, so they face up larger than a round of the same weight.

Is a 1 carat lab grown diamond a real diamond?

Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and sparkle. Its grading report states that it is laboratory-grown.

Should I buy just under 1 carat?

Prices step up at round numbers. A stone of 0.90 to 0.99 ct looks almost the same once set and usually costs less.
